Think: Why I'm Doing the Whole30, Round 2

May 16, 2016 Catherine Agopcan

Today marks the first day of Whole30.  This is the second time I'm doing it.  I've done Paleo a few times in the past as well.  My biggest challenge is really desserts.  It's hard for me to resist a good chocolate chip cookie.

Here are a few reasons why I am challenging myself this time around.

  1. I have been travelling for a few weeks and have definitely eaten whatever my hearts desired.  Eating local food during your travels is the best way to learn and understand new cultures.  I certainly did a lot of this.  So now, it is time to reset the body.

  2. I have convinced my younger sister to do whole30 with me.  She just finished her sophomore year and her body also needs a reset especially after all of that late night munching and cafeteria food. I'm starting mine a week early so that I can help her along the way.  I'll be posting some resources to help her on this journey.

  3. Today is also the 2 month mark before a group of us will hike Machu Picchu.  It will be my first time and I do not want to be left behind.  I hear that the elevation change can be extreme and I want to prepare my body for it so eating healthier will be a start.  The second challenge will be doing more to improve cardio and ensure I can carry a pack up a mountain without issues.

During this process, I will be documenting them here so that I can reference what did not go well, what went well, what I can improve on.  Stay tuned.
